Chapter 3 User Preferences
Introduction
This chapter describes each user preference feature and provides the programming bar codes for selecting these
features for the scanner.
The scanner ships with the settings shown in the User Preferences Default Table on page 3-2 (also see Appendix
A, Standard Default Parameters for all host device and miscellaneous scanner defaults). If the default values suit
the requirements, programming is not necessary. To change these values, scan a single bar code or a short bar
code sequence. After scanning Save Configuration on page 3-22, the new settings are stored in non-volatile
memory and are preserved when the scanner powers down.
To return all features to their default values, scan the Reset Factory Defaults bar code on page 3-4. Throughout the
programming bar code menus, default values are indicated with asterisks (
*).
Scanning Sequence Examples
In most cases, scan only one bar code to set a parameter value. For example, to set the beeper tone to high, scan
the High Frequency (beeper tone) bar code under Beeper Tone on page 3-9. The scanner issues a fast warble
beep and the LED turns green, indicating a successful parameter entry.
Other parameters, such as Laser On Time or Data Transmission Formats, require scanning several bar codes.
See the parameter description for this procedure.
Errors While Scanning
Unless otherwise specified, if an error is made during a scanning sequence, re-scan the correct parameter.
