5.10 READ ERRORS-ALL TRACKS
A. Verify that head is loaded by visually checking that head load pad
(or upper head on Model 42) contacts diskette. If head is not
loaded refer to paragraph 5.6.
B. Check compliance (refer to paragraph 4. 7 .1). If compliance is
bad, clean head and/or replace load pad assembly ((refer to
paragraph 4.5.18).
C. Check read logic for proper signals as compared with timing
diagram, Figure 3-6.
D. Check for a poor connection or a broken wire on the head cable(s).
E. Replace the Control Electronics PCBA. If there still is no read
signals from the drive, replace the head/carriage assembly (refer
to paragraph 4.5.10).
5.11 READ ERRORS-RANDOM TRACKS
A. Check for an intermittent connection of the read/write head
connector.
B. Replace the Control Electronics PCBA (refer to paragraph 4.5.1).
C. Replace the Spindle Speed Control PCBA (refer to paragraph 4.5.1).
D. Replace the spindle drive motor (refer to paragraph 4.5.7).
5.12 READ ERRORS-INSIDE TRACKS
A. Check compliance (refer to paragraph 4. 7 .1). If compliance is
bad, replace load pad assembly (refer to paragraph 4.5.12), and/or
clean head.
B. Check erase capability (refer to paragraph 4.7.2). If erase is
bad, see paragraph 5.15.
c. Check high frequency output (refer to paragraph 4.7.3). If output
is bad, replace the head/carriage assembly (refer to paragraph
4.5.10).
5.13 CANNOT READ PREWRITTEN DATA: CAN READ SELF-WRITTEN DATA
A. Check radial-track alignment (refer to paragraph 4.6.1).
B. Check index-to-data alignment (refer to paragraph 4.6.2).
