"OFF"
or
with the engine running. Should this
happen,
see
your Oldsmobile dealer. The
warning light will
not
indicate all types
of
charging malfunctions. Therefore,
if
the
starting motor turns the engine slower
than
normal,
have the cause determined
promptly.
SEAT
BElT
WARNING
LIGHT
This light
is
designed
to
come on 4
to
8
seconds
to
remind passengers
to
fasten seat
belts. For operation, refer
to
the "Seat
Belt"
section.
ENGINE
LIGHT
A red light "ENGINE" will appear when
the ignition is in
"RUN"
to
let you know
the warning light is working. When
the
engine starts and oil pressure builds up, the
light will
go
out.
ShOuld
the
light come on
while driving, stop the engine immediately.
With all engines
except
the
231
CID
V-6,
the
light will come
on
only when there
is
a
dangerously low oil level in
the
crankcase
(below the
"ADD" mark on the dipstick).
Driving the car
with
low oil pressure can
cause extensive engine damage. With the
231
V-6,
if
the light comes on and the oil
level is
OK,
see
your Oldsmobile dealer.
HEADLIGHT
AND
INSTRUMENT
PANEL
LIGHT
SWITCH
The headlight switch, located
at
the left
end
of
the instrument panel, works as
follows:
1.
Pull the switch halfway out for parking
lights, instrument panel lights, taillights
and side marker lights.
2.
Pull the switch all the way out
to
get all
driving lights, including headlights,
parking lights, side marker lights, tail
lights and instrument panel lights.
3. To dim instrument panel lights, turn
switch knob clockwise.

COURTESY
AND
DOME
LIGHTS
The
courtesy
lights will come
on
automatically when the front doors are
opened. The dome light and courtesy lights
are controlled
by
the headlight switch.
Turning this switch fully counterclockwise
will
turn
the lights on.
WINDSHiElD
WASHERS
AND
WIPERS
The windshield wiper and washer control
(located
at
the left end
of
the
instrument
panel) operates
the
washer and concealed
wiper system electrically.
Operation:
• Clear
ice or packed snow from wiper
blade concealment recess at rear
of
hood
before
operating wipers. Carefully
loosen
or
thaw wipers that are frozen
to
windshield or lower molding.
