ASH
TRAYS
The instrument panel ash tray
is
located
just below the radio dial. The ash tray is
exposed
by
pulling
the
bottom
edge
of
the
ash
tray
toward
you.To
close, simply push
the tray into the instrument panel. To
remove the tray for cleaning, slide the ash
tray
out
to
the
stop,
then
push down
the
spring metal retainer in
the
center of· the
tray and slide
the
tray
out.
NOTICE: Flammable materials, such as paper
wrappers, should
not
be discarded in
the
ash
trays since severe fires can result from contact
with smoldering cigarettes.
AUTOMATIC
LEVEL
CONTROL
This option automatically maintains a level
position
of
the
car
regardless
of
load
changes
so
that steering is normal and
headlight aim remains as it should. No
manipulations or adjustments are required;
merely load
or
unload your car and the
Automatic Level Control feature will com-
pensate for
the
change in weight within the
limits
of
its capacity. The system will work
only when
the
ignition switch is in
"RUN."
CIGARETTE
LIGHTER
Push in the cigarette lighter (located
in
lower center cluster) all the way
to
operate. When it is heated sufficiently
to
use,
it
will
"snap"
back
to
normal position
with
an
audible sound. A void holding
the
lighter in while
it
is
being heated. For
safety, all Oldsmobile cigarette lighters
have a heat-sensitive terminal which breaks
the circuit
if
the lighter becomes
too
hot.
CORNERING
LIGHTS
Cornering
lights (optional) work in
conjunction
with
the
turn
signals when
the
headlights
or
parking lights are on. When
the
tum
signal lever is moved in either
direction, the corresponding cornering light
comes
on
to
give
extra light in
the
direction the car
is
turning. The lights
turn
off
when the
turn
signal cancels.
GLOVE
BOX
DOOR
LATCH
The glove
box
door
is opened
by
turning
the door knob
to
the
right.
It
latches
automatically when closed firmly. The
oval-head key will lock
the
door
when
the
key
is
inserted and turned
to
the
left.
LlMITED-8L1P
DIFFERENTIAL
The optional Lirnited-Slip Differential can
give
added traction on snow, ice,
mud,
sand, gravel, etc. Normally, the
Limited-
Slip Differential unit works like a standard
axle. However, when either drive wheel
meets a slippery enough surface, the
Lirnited-Slip Differential can continue
to
give
driving force
to
the wheel having the
greater traction, instead
of
merely spinning
the wheel which has
the
least traction.
CAUTION: Whether
the
car has a
Limited-Slip Differential
or
a standard •
axle, do
not
try
to
speed
up
suddenly
when either
or
both
drive wheels are
on
a slippery surface. This could cause
both
drive wheels
to
spin and allow
the
rear
of
the
car
to
slide sideWays
on
the
crowned surface of a road
or
in a turn.
Normal skid correction
and
cautious
driving are called for
at
these times.

VISOR
VANITY
MIRROR
The lighted Visor Vanity Mirror (optional)
illuminates automatically when the mirror
