- With column seated in base, and lever in
"uP", insert
jack
hook
in
slot on
underside
of
bumper. Do not hook the
jack on
the
bottom edge
of
the bumper.
- Jack base must sit flat, with top
of
column angled slightly away from car.
- Operate jack with slow, smooth motion.
_ Raise
car
so
tire just clears surface.
Flexible body panels may temporarily
bend during jacking.
- Check stability
of
car on jack.

remove wheel nuts and wheel.

- Install spare wheel and tighten wheel
nuts fmger tight.
Wheel
must be seated
on
hub.
Be
sure the flat end
of
the nuts
face outward.
- Place jack lever
in
"DO~".
Lower car
-and fully tighten wheel nuts by applying
clockwise pressure near end
of
wrench.
-Wheel
nut torque should be set
to
specifications shown
in
"Specifications"
-section.

CAUTION: As soon as possible after
instalUng a wheel-

intervals

the chart in the Maintenance
Schedule folder- have a mechanic
tighten wheel nuts with a torque wrench
to specifications shown
in
"Specifi-
cations" section. Wheel nuts should
be
tightened alternately and evenly
to
the
correct torque. Improperly tightened
wheel nuts could eventually allow
the
wheel
to
come off while the car
is
in
motion, possibly causing loss
of
control.

- Replace jack and wheel
in
trunk (or
storage compartment) and tighten them
securely
to
avoid rattles.
