• Do not allow battery fluid
to
contact
eyes, skin, fabrics, or painted surfaces
because battery fluid
is
a corrosive
acid. Flush any contacted area with
water immediatelr. and

if
eyes are
affected.
• To lessen the risk
of
a short circuit,
remove rings, metal watch bands and
other metal jewelry.
Also
do. not
allow metal tools
to
contact the
positive battery terminal (or metal in
contact with it) and any other metal
on the car. Make certain when
attaching the jumper cable clamps
to
the positive terminals
of
the batteries
that
neither clamp contacts any other
metal.

Do
not allow
the vehicles
to
touch, and check
to
see
that the bwnpers do not touch.

off
all electric motors and
accessories in
both
vehicles. Turn off all
lights except those needed
to
protect
the
vehicle
or illuminate the work area.
Turn
off
the ignition, apply the parking
brake firmly, and put the automatic
transmission in ''PARK'' (manual
transmission in
"Neutral")
in
both
vehicles.

If
the discharged battery has filler caps,
check the fluid level.
(Do not
use
an
open flame to check and
do
not
smoke.) Add clear drinking water
to
the
proper level
if
low, and replace caps
before jump starting.
If
the battery
is
a
Delco sealed type, do not attempt
to
jump
start the vehicle, or charge it, or
test the battery
if
the center
of
the test
indicator in the ba ttery is bright or light
yellow. Instead, install a new battery.
S. Jumper Cable Connection Instructions
• Connect the first jumper cable from
the positive
"+" (red) terminal on
one battery
to
the positive
"+
" (red)
terminal on the other battery. Never
connect
"+" (red) to
"-"
(black), or
"-"
to
"+
".
• Next, connect one end
of
the second
cable to
the
grounded negative
