LIMITED~LIP-Drain and refill after the
first 7,500 miles (12 000 kilometres). Use
special gear lubricant GM·l 052271 or
GM-1052272, available from your Olds-
mobile dealer. Change lubricant every

DISC BRAKE WEAR INDICATOR
The front disc brakes have a built-in wear
indicator that is designed to make a
high-pitched squealing or cricket-like
warning sound when the brake linings are
worn to where new linings are needed. The
sound will come and go, or be heard all the
time when the wheels are rolling, but will
stop when the . brake pedal is pushed down
firmly. There are also several brake checks
listed in the Oldsmobile Maintenance
Schedule folder.
DRIVE BELTS
Every 15,000 miles (24000 kilometres) or
12 months, inspect drive belts for wear,
fraying, cracking, and tension. Belts which
are in poor condition should be replaced
immediately.
DISTRIBUTOR AND SPARK PLUGS
For the best engine performance and fuel
economy, engine tune-up operations
should be performed at the service intervals
recommended in the Maintenance Schedule
folder.
FUSE BLOCK LOCATION
The fuse block is mounted under the
instrument panel to the left of the steering
column and just behind the parking brake.
To find the proper fuse, see "FUSE
SPECIFICATIONS" in the
"Specifications" section.
KEY LOCKS
Check all key locks for free operation and
lubricate when needed with an acceptable
lock cylinder lubricant.
MANUAL STEERING GEAR
The steering gear is factory-filled with
steering gear lubricant. Seasonal change of
this lubricant should not be performed and
the housing should not be drained- no
lubrication is required for the life of the
steering gear .
Every 30,000 miles (48000 kilometres),
the gear should be inspected for seal
leakage (actual solid grease, not just oily
film). If a seal is replaced or the gear is
overhauled, the gear housing should be
refilled with Steering Gear Lubricant which
meets GM Specification 4673M, or its
equivalent.
POWER STEERING SYSTEM
Check the fluid level in the power steering
pump at each oil change period. Add GM
Power Steering Fluid (GM-I050017) as
necessary:
