ENGINE
OIL
AND
FILTER
RECOMMENDATIONS
•
Use
only
SE
quality engine oils (see
markings on containers).
• Change oil each 7,s00 miles (12 000
kilometres) or once a year, whichever
occurs first.
Change oil filter at the fIrst
oil change and each second oil change
after
that,
if
you drive more
than
7,s00
miles
(12000
kilometres) per year.
If
you change the oil once a year, change
the filter each time you change oil.
• Change oil and nIter each 3,000 miles
(4800
kilometres)
or
3 months
if
you
often:
- drive in dusty areas
- pull a trailer
- idle for long periods
- drive
4 miles
(6
kilometres) or less in
freezing weather.
• After driving in a dust storm, change the
oil and
nIter as soon as you
can.
• The oil and nIter change intervals for .
your engine are based on the
use
of
SE
quality oils and high quality filters like
AC
oil filters.
Use
of non-SE oils or oil
change intervals longer than listed in this
manual could reduce engine life and
might affect your warranty.
• Your engine was filled with an
SE
quality engine oil when it was. built. You
do not
have
to change this oil before the
suggested change period.
Check the oil
level often when your engine
is
new .
Keep in mindyour engine may use more
oil when it
is
new.
