19.Remove the spring pin

from the prop shaft at the
front gear case. Remove the propshaft from the
transmission output shaft.
20.If internal transmission repair is required, drain the
transmission lubricant.
21.Remove the outer clutch cover, drive belt, drive
clutch, driven clutch, inner clutch cover and clutch
outlet duct (see Clutching chapter).
22.Place a spacer or support between the vehicle frame
and engine to hold the engine in position.
23.Remove vent hose

from transmission.
24.Disconnect the shift lever cable from the shift lever on
the transmission.
25.Remove the wire ties retaining harness to
transmission and mounts.
26.Remove the black ground wire and red starter motor
lead from the starter motor. Remove the starter motor
from the engine. Pack the starter motor bore with a
clean shop towel to prevent foreign material from
entering engine.
