3.4 Onboarding the inverter
Onboarding is the process of establishing the inverter’s permanent connection to the internet, using the owners home
network. Permanent connection to the owner’s network is by Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
Onboarding is automatic when an ethernet connection to the home network is used.
When connection to the home network is by Wi-Fi, complete onboarding using the RedbackINSTALL app and a Bluetooth
connection to the inverter.
If no internet or home network is available at site, the inverter can be pre-configured with all major settings except site
registration i.e., it can be left functional but not onboarded.
Before onboarding, ensure the following communication cables are correctly installed:
SM3000 to Bos KWH Meter (3.11.1)
BoS to Inverter (section 2.10.3)
Fan Controller to BoS BMS (3.14.4)

COMM’S LED is Yellow and NETWORK LED is

restarted as described in Section 4.3.
Unable to connect message
Ensure Password is correct and that
connection is to a 2.4Ghz network (5Ghz is
not supported).

System can be set
up but not
registered.
The EMS BLUETOOTH LED must be flashing to
connect.
The app will request confirmation of this
choice. A limited menu of setup options will
be available.
