20-60 Priming and Painting (continued)
B. Painting
This specification provides final paint finish requirements.
Do not prime or paint with a top coat finish the following areas (unless directed):
y Sliding friction joints.
y Stainless steel parts.
y Swivel joints and adjustable rod ends.
y Plastic, rubber, electrical components and wires or similar materials.
y Bolted joints where torque is a specific requirement for clamping action.
y Bearing press fit or close tolerance slip fit joints (except where wet chromate primer is
part of the assembly procedure).
1. Prior to paint application, clean and prime surface per Part A.
2. Painting Sequence - In general, most parts will be cleaned and primed as detail parts,
however, in some cases, such as the gearbox assembly, this will not be practical and
priming and painting may be done as an assembly.
