28-22 Low-Fuel Switch Assembly (continued)
B. Installation
1. Install new MS29512-05 packing over switch assembly threads.
2. Refer to Figure 28-2. Remove fuel cap. Tape switch assembly wiring to 4-ft length
of lockwire; insert other end of wire through fuel cap opening and through switch
assembly opening. Carefully grip switch assembly body with mechanical fingers and
lower switch assembly to bottom of bladder. Inside baggage compartment, guide
wiring through opening, install spacer, washer assembly, and nut securing switch
assembly to G250-1 sump tray, and special torque nut per Section 20-33. Remove
tape and lockwire. Release and remove mechanical fingers, and install fuel cap.
3. Connect F049-03 (GCU) electrical harness wiring to switch assembly wiring at
connectors. Fit wiring through gap in G930-1 (low-fuel switch) drain assembly seal,
install G930-4 retainer, and install screws securing retainer and drain assembly to
tray. Verify security. Seal gap in drain assembly seal where wires pass thru using
B270-5 sealant.
4. If removed, fit A729-55 tube onto drain assembly; wrap tube with two turns 0.032-
inch diameter lockwire and safety tube to drain assembly.
5. Service helicopter with seven gallons of fuel per Section 12-41. Verify no leaks
around switch assembly mount. Open sump drain access door and verify no leaks
from (low-fuel switch) drain tube. Perform operation check per Part C.
6. Refer to Section 6-70. Install G248-1 (baggage compartment) cover and install
hardware. Verify security. Close and latch baggage compartment door.
C. Operation Check
1. Turn BATTERY switch ON.
2. Open fueling cowl door and remove fuel cap.
3. Drain fuel until float drops, or insert a clean, non-sparking rod through fuel cap
opening and gently depress A521-2 (low-fuel) switch assembly float; verify LOW
FUEL annunciator segment illuminates.
4. Remove rod, install fuel cap, and close cowl door.
5. Turn BATTERY switch OFF.
