Procedure
To use the probe cleaning tool, perform the following actions:
1. Ensure the system is in the Standby mode. Power
off the system at the Standby Operate switch.
2. Remove the probe.
3. To insert the probe cleaning tool, hold the joint-
holder end of the probe and carefully turn the
push-in fitting clockwise. Do not over tighten.
4. If the tool is assembled, unscrew the syringe from
the tubing at the luer fitting.
5. Fill the syringe with DI water and re-attach it to
the luer fitting.
6. While holding the probe over a sink or suitable
container, depress the syringe plunger.
7. Observe that any obstruction is removed and a
steady, uniform stream exits the probe tip.
8. If the blockage remains, immerse the probe tip in
a beaker of DI water and move the syringe
plunger back and forth to dislodge the obstruction.
9. After unblocking the probe, optionally clean the
probe with a 10% solution of bleach and perform
step 10. Otherwise, proceed to step 11.
10. If bleach solution was used to clean the probe
(step 9), then rinse the probe with a syringe filled
with DI water to remove any traces of bleach.

WARNING
Household bleach is 5% or 6% sodium hypochlorite. When handling bleach, which can
be used as a cleaning and antiviral agent, wear protective clothing, gloves, and
safety glasses. It is harmful if swallowed and may cause eye or skin irritation.
Use household bleach that is free of heavy metals.
To prepare a 10% solution of household bleach, dilute one part of bleach with nine
parts of clean distilled water, or clean de-ionized water. The prepared solution
is stable for one week when stored at room temperature.
