3. Loosen the lead wire connectors (
1 and 2), then remove the wires.
4. Unfasten the lamp screws (
3) on the plate (4) and remove the halogen lamp from the
housing.
CAUTION
Be careful not to drop the screws.
5. When installing the new lamp, align the hole (
1) to the locating pin (2).

CAUTION
Do not touch the glass portion of the lamp. Touching the lamp could damage it. If
the lamp is dirty, clean it using lint-free toweling moistened with ethanol.
6. Install the lamp screws.
7. Install the lead wires and fasten the knobs.
8. Replace the access panel.
9. Return the analyzer to the
READY mode, if necessary.
10. Wait 40 minutes for the lamp to stabilize.
NOTE: You can perform the daily shutdown 2 while you are waiting.
11. Check the lamp energy (see the Weekly Maintenance section).
12. Register the data and verify that attenuations register at 100%, voltages are between
5–9, and scatter is no greater than ±40.
13. Perform the cell blank measurement test.
NOTE: Siemens recommends the assays on the system be calibrated after the lamp is
replaced.
14. Run QC controls to verify that all assays are within the laboratory’s established
control ranges.
