35 Protection elements
Purpose
For protection against voltage surge and electromagnetic influence (EMI).
Normal field of application
Control unit
No additional protection measures required. All modules have integrated protection
against voltage surge and electromagnetic influence, however no lightning protection.
Installation
In general use twisted cable, for detection lines, data lines, external supply lines and
lines to alarm devices.
Special measures
In installations which are particularly at risk from lightning such as:
transformer installations
alpine transmitter systems

Provide surge protectors for mains lead
If excessive HF interference is to be expected

Provide mains filter for mains lead
If Z3I041 or B3P020 are used and mounted at the
mains terminals, E3M060/071/171/120 and
E3C011 are not possible at position 36.
