6.3.2.5 Standard menu
The "Standard" menu is symbolised by the icon " " on the menu bar and it
is displayed a few seconds after the centrifuge has been switched on. In
this menu, the parameters of a centrifugation run can be displayed and
modified.
Fig. 24: Standard menu; here shown with all of the possible symbols
Speed
In the upper section of the field, the set speed of the centrifuge is displayed.
The actual speed is displayed below this value. The values are stated in
revolutions per minute (min
-1
= rpm) and depend on the RCF values (see
chapter 2.2.2.1 - "Speed, radius, and relative centrifugal force"). The
maximum speed values depend on the rotor that is used.
Relative centrifugal force (RCF)
The relative centrifugal force is the acceleration that the sample is
subjected to during the centrifugation run. The set value of this parameter is
displayed in the upper section of this field, with the actual value shown
below. The values are stated in g (gravitational acceleration) and they
depend on the speed values (see chapter 2.2.2.1 - "Speed, radius, and
relative centrifugal force"). The maximum RCF values depend on the rotor
that is used.
Temperature
The set temperature is displayed in the upper section of the field, with the
current sample temperature shown below. Temperatures between
-20 °C and +40 °C can be preselected.
NOTE
The centrifuge is not equipped with an active heater. As a result,
temperatures above room temperature depend on the air friction of the
running motor.
