FAN BELT ADJUSTMENT
Press down the belt with thumb at the centre of the
longest free length and check the deflection. The correct
deflection with moderate thumb pressure 4.5 kgf (45N)
is 10 mm ( 0.4”).
To Adjust
1. Screw out anticlockwise the fan belt tension
adjusting nut to reduce the deflection.
or
Screw in clockwise the fan belt tension adjusting
screw to increase the deflection. - (Fig.E.10)
2. Check the belt tension again to ensure that it is
correct.
To Renew Fan Belt
1. Screw out the fan belt tension adjusting nut to
release the tension from the fan belt.
2. Remove the fan belt.
3. Fit the new belt and adjust the belt tension.
THERMOSTAT ASSEMBLY
To Remove
1. Drain the coolant so its level is below the
thermostat level.
2. Disconnect the water outlet hose from the
thermostat housing.
3. Remove the thermostat housing (Fig.E.11) and
remove the thermostat.- (Fig.E.12)
Inspection
1. To check the thermostat, suspend it in water and
heat gradually. With a thermometer, check that the
thermostat valve starts opening at the temperatures 73º ±
2º C and fully opening at 83º ± 2º C. If it is faulty, it should
be renewed.
To Ret Thermostat
1. Place the thermostat in its housing as shown.
Note: When refitting the thermostat, ensure
that the jiggle pin (if provided) in the top of the
thermostat is free to move in its location.
2. Install the inlet fitting. Tighten the coolant inlet
fitting bolt to torque 12 lbs.ft (16 Nm).
3. Connect the water outlet hose and refill the
coolant.
