ROCKER COVER
To Remove
1. Disconnect the flexible hose from rocker cover.
2. Remove rocker cover securing dume nuts
(Fig.E.13)
3. Lift off the rocker cover along with the joint
To Ret
1. Check the condition of the rocker cover and joint.
Fit the rocker cover with joint.
Renew the joint, if tourn.
2. Position the steel washer and screw on nut..
Tighten the nuts to 40 lbs.ft (55 Nm)
CHECK & ADJUST VALVE TIP CLEARANCE
To adjust valve tip clearance on engine proceed
as follows:-
1. Remove the rocker cover
2. Rotate the crankshaft in clockwise direction and
bring No. 1 Cylinder piston to TDC at the end of
compression stroke.
3. Check the No.2 cylinder inlet valve has just
opened and exhaust valve about to close (overlap
position) i.e. both valves will be tight.
4. Check the crankshaft pulley mark (3) is inline with
the pointer. (Fig.E.15)
5. Set the No.1 cylinder inlet and exhaust valve tip
clearance to 0.15 mm (0.006’’) in cold. (Fig.E.16)
6. Then rotate crankshaft 360º in direction of
rotation and set the valve tip clearance for No.2
cylinder inlet and exhaust valves. (At this position
the No. 2 piston is at the end of compression
stroke)
NOTE: In Crankshaft, the crankpins are on the same side.
