ROCKER ASSEMBLY
To Remove Shaft Rocker Assembly
1. Remove the rocker cover (Fig.K.5 ).
2. Loosen evenly and gradually the screws securing
rocker shaft brackets to cylinder head. (Fig.K.6 )
3. Remove the screws and washers and lift off the
rocker assembly.
To Dismantle and Assemble Rocker Shaft Assembly
1. Remove the circlip and dismantle the rocker shaft
assembly.
Note: When dismantling rocker shaft assembly make
careful note of the order of assembly.
2. Clean and inspect all the components for wear
and any other damages. If required renew the
component
3. Lubricate the components and reassemble in the
correct order. Ensure that the oil holes in the rocker
shaft and in the rocker lever are not restricted.
4. Fit the rocker shaft into the bracket by aligning its
grove and oil holes.
5. Fit the oil hole dowel pin into the bracket and ensure
oil passage is not blocked.
6. Fit the rocker, washer and circlip. Ensure the free
movement of rockers in its position.
To Fit
1. Check that the push rods fit correctly in the sockets of
the tappets.
2. Fit the rocker shaft assembly; ensure the ends of the
adjustment screws fit correctly in the socket of the
push rods.
3. Tighten evenly and gradually the screws of the rocker
shaft brackets.
4. Tighten the nuts to torque 48 lbf.ft (65 Nm).
5. Set the valve tip clearance.(Fig.K.8 )
6. Start and run the engine, check the performance.
7. Fit the rocker cover.
