If the waveform generator hardware fails during normal operation, the diagnos-
tics (invoked by the command) may detect the failure. The module
controller can then read the error messages generated by the waveform generator.
You can also verify or optimize calibration during normal operation by invoking
the command with appropriate arguments.
The waveform generator will light its FAILED indicator if the diagnostics or
calibration routines detect an error. This indicates that the module requires
servicing.
