Operation & Service Manual (VA) 53 ST1175
7.2.3 Pay attention to safety
Work on installations and devices under safety regulations can only be safe if:
the corresponding instructions are carried out to the letter,
all protection devices are left in place.
If it is necessary to carry out maintenance or revision work, this often means
dismantling parts which involves a change in the original state of the vehicle lift or
device, and steps must be taken to insure safety.
It is the responsibility of those in charge of preparing or surveying this work, to
take the necessary steps to guarantee safe working conditions.
Most accidents with vehicle lifts happen during maintenance and repair work.
Before starting maintenance on the equipment:
1. Stop the vehicle lift and allow any pressure to disperse.
2. Turn the main switch to the OFF position and lock it with a padlock.
3. Place a tag "Do not start" at the control box.
Please refer to the chapter Safety (on page 15) for an overview of all safety
instructions.
7.2.4 Waste disposal
Remove and dispose in a correct manner lubricating agents, used chemical
products and other such matter. On this subject, the local environmental
recommendations should be respected: see also section Environmental aspects
(on page 31).
7.2.5 Forms and administration
It is recommended to keep a record for each periodic maintenance procedure
performed on your equipment. The operator/engineer responsible for the
maintenance should enter:
His or her name.
The date when the maintenance was carried out.
The work carried out.
Daily periodic maintenance procedures do not require a signature or date - these
procedures must be completed at the start of each work day.
