Operation & Service Manual (VA) 25 ST1175
3.4 Safety features
The vehicle lift has a control and monitoring system, which ensures that:
the guide blocks always stay at an equal height within the control limits,
lowering is halted in the event that obstacles cause an elevation difference to
occur,
the control circuit is interrupted in the event that the height difference between
the guide blocks exceeds a pre-defined value; operation via the push buttons on
the column lift control boxes is then disabled,
lifting is halted when the highest position is reached (height safeguard),
the lowering action stops 30 cm above the floor; if the [DOWN] and [UNLOCK]
buttons are pressed again, the column will be lowered further with an
accompanying acoustic signal; this option (foot protection) can be enabled or
disabled; by default it is disabled,
lowering is electro-mechanically blocked in the event of loss of control power or
leakage from the cylinders.
3.4.1 Emergency stop
The top switch on the control box is used as emergency stop switch. In
emergencies, use this switch to halt the vehicle lifts.
If the emergency stop has been used, check:
whether anyone is trapped,
whether the vehicle lift has been damaged.
3.4.2 Safety signs
The vehicle lift is provided with safety and protection signs.
Regularly check whether all the safety signs are still present at the correct place
on the vehicle lift. If signs have been lost or are damaged, apply new ones. Do so
in the correct place.
