Decommissioning
General information
This chapter contains information about "
tem-
porary decommissioning
" and "
permanent
decommissioning
".
Measures to be implemented when
decommissioning
The following tasks must be carried out if the
truck is not used for an extended period:
Clean the truck as described in the chapter
entitled "
Cleaning the forklift truck
" and
park the truck in a dust-free, dry, frost-free
and well-ventilated area.
Lift the fork carriage to the stop several
times.
Tilt the lift mast forwards and backwards
several times and, if fitted, move attach-
ment repeatedly.
Lower the fork carriage. To relieve the
strain on the load chains, lower the fork car-
riage onto a suitable supporting surface,
e.g. a pallet.
Check hydraulic oil level and top up if re-
quired.
Apply a thin layer of oil or lubricating grease
to all unpainted parts as corrosion protec-
tion.
Lubricate all lubrication points listed in the
chapter entitled "
Summary table of mainte-
nance operations
".
Spray all exposed electrical contacts on the
battery with a suitable contact spray.
Remove the battery and store it in a dry and
frost-free room.
Regularly check the charge state of the bat-
tery and recharge if necessary.
Jack up the truck so that the tyres are not
touching the ground. This will prevent per-
manent deformation of the tyres.
Fill the fuel tank.
