6.9 Safety glass
Style CNC Machines recommends replacing the safety glass every 5 years, or if any of the following problems
occur:
• The safety glass is dull and difficult to see through.
• When the safety glass is delaminating.
• If the safety glass is cracked or has a star in it.
The safety glass consists of two layers, the first layer consists of glass on the machining side and the second
layer consists of polycarbonate on the operator side. The polycarbonate is affected by several things: coolant and
the UV rays, the cooling affects the polycarbonate the most. As the polycarbonate gets old it starts to dull and
needs to be replaced.
6.10 Oil skimmer & Oil separator
When the waste oil container is full, it must be emptied.
The belt of the oil skimmer & oil separator has a lifespan of 1 to 5 years, how long the belt lasts mainly depends
on the aggressiveness of the cooling emulsion. The more aggressive the cooling emulsion, the shorter the belt will
last.
The oil skimmer & oil separator work best when the cooling emulsion has been idle for a while. If the cooling
emulsion is stationary, after a certain time the oil will float on the emulsion, the time until this happens differs
according to the type of cooling emulsion, the concentration, the temperature, the viscosity of the oil and the
conditions of the working environment.
To make the oil skimmer & oil separator work more effectively, it is possible to power the skimmer or separator
separately from the machine with a timer, if the timer is set at night, the skimmer or separator switches on at night
when the cooling emulsion has had sufficient rest.
