Precautions for use of the cascade
function
When the cascade function is ON, the auto record •
function is disabled. If you turn the cascade
function ON when the auto record function is ON,
the auto record function turns OFF automatically.
When the cascade function is turned OFF again,
the auto record function remains OFF. To use the
auto record function, turn it ON again after turning
the cascade function OFF.
When using the cascade function, set the •
PAUSE
item of the
REC
menu to the same value for both
the master and slave units. If the settings of the
master and slave units are different, their operation
after pausing recording will not be the same, and
control of their transports will not occur correctly.
If the types of cards used for recording in the •
master and slave units are different and the
PAUSE
item of the
REC
menu is set to
NEW
TAKE
, recording
might not start simultaneously when the REC
key is operated. The reason for this is that the
processing time for the units differs when the
slave and master units use different types of cards.
Moreover, this lag between units can also occur
iftherecordingleformatorsamplingfrequency
settings of the master and slave units are not the
same. To conduct cascade recording without lag,
use the same type of card in both the master and
slaveunitsandsettheirrecordingleformatsand
sampling frequencies to the same values. Alter-
nately, the lag between units can also be avoided
by waiting several seconds after putting the unit in
recording standby before pressing the REC key.
The Home Screen must be open on both the master •
and slave units to use the cascade function. If a
menu screen is open on either or both units, the
cascade function will not work properly.
Use of the cascade function for playback is •
intended for checking recorded takes. We cannot
guarantee synchronized playback.
