SMART CC FUNCTION
KB-50 is equipped with the "Smart CC" function. By using this function, the astigmatism test with
the cross cylinder is automatically performed. In "Smart CC", the axis or refractive power to be com-
pared is automatically set. The customer can perform the cross cylinder test for axis and refractive
power by only the following two procedures.
• Comparison of the first and second lenses
• Input of the patient's answer
Example of astigmatism test by "Smart CC"
1 Start the astigmatism test.
2 When the manual mode is set, touch the function button [Smart CC].
3 The lenses are set automatically. Compare the first lens with the second one.
4 Ask the patient, "Which lens do you see better, the red frame one or green frame one?"
• When the green frame lens is seen better → Press the [+] switch on the keyboard.
• When the red frame lens is seen better → Press the [-] switch on the keyboard.
• When both of the lenses are seen similarly → Press the [SET] switch on the keyboard.
5 The lenses are set again automatically in the CV-5000. Compare the first lens with the second
one.
6 Ask the patient again, "Which lens do you see better, the red frame one or green frame one?"
• When the green frame lens is seen better → Press the [+] switch on the keyboard.
• When the red frame lens is seen better → Press the [-] switch on the keyboard.
• When both of the lenses are seen similarly → Press the [SET] switch on the keyboard.
7 Compare the lenses in the same way several times. Then, "Axis test is finished" is displayed in
"mini help" and the refractive power test starts.
8 Perform the refractive power test in the same way as above.
9 Compare the lenses several times in the same way as the axis. Then, the cross cylinder test is
finished.
In "Smart CC", you can execute the cross cylinder test by pressing the switch corresponding to
the patient's answer.
