IMPORTANT
Whencappingthehoppertiltcylinderttingandhydraulichoseend,
useasteelcapandplugtoensurethatthereisnouidleakage.The
plasticplugscannotholdthehydraulicpressurethatisdeveloped
duringthistestprocedure.
5.Installasteelcapontheopenhoppertiltcylinderttingtosealthetilt
cylinder.Also,installasteelplugintheopenendofthedisconnectedhoseto
preventleakageorcontamination.
6.Allowthehopperweightontothehoppertiltcylinder.
7.Thecappedhoppertiltcylindershouldbeabletosupportthehopperlong
enoughforthemachinetotiltandcleanthehopper.
8.Ifthehoppertiltcylinderallowsthehoppertolowertooquickly,replacethe
hoppertiltcylinder;refertoHopperTiltCylinder(page5–121).
9.Oncethehoppertiltcylinderconditionisdetermined,tiltthehopperslightly
whichremovestheloadfromthetiltcylinder.
10.Securethehopperintiltposition.
11.Removethecapfromthecylinderttingandtheplugfromthehydraulichose.
12.Connectthehydraulichosetothetiltcylindertting.
13.Starttheengineandoperatethehoppertiltcylindersthroughseveraltiltand
lowercycles.Shutofftheengineandcheckforanyleakage.
14.Ifnecessary,repeatthesteps3through13forotherhopperliftcylinder.
15.Checkandllthehydraulictankwiththecorrectquantityofnewhydraulic
uidbeforereturningthemachinetoservice.
