A.Checkthevoltageacrossthebatteryterminalsbeforetestingthebattery.
Ifthevoltageislessthan12.4VDC,chargethebatterybeforecontinuing
thetest;refertoChargingtheBattery(page6–55).
B.Ensurethatthebatteryterminalsarefreeofcorrosion.
C.Measuretheelectrolytetemperatureofthecenterbatterycell.
D.Connectabatteryloadtestertothebatteryterminalsfollowingthe
manufacturer'sinstructions.Connectadigitalmultimetertothebattery
terminals.
E.Ifyouchargethebattery,applya150Aloadfor15secondstoremove
thesurfacecharge.Waitfor10minutesbeforeproceedingwithloadtest.
F.Applyatestloadof270A(1/2thecrankingperformanceratingofthe
battery)for15seconds.
G.Aftertestloadhasbeenappliedfor15seconds,takeatestvoltage
readingandthenremovetheload.Recordthetestvoltagereading.
H.UsetheMinimumVoltageTable(page6–54),determinetheminimum
voltageforthecentercellelectrolytetemperaturereading.
