InstallingthePTODriveshaft
IMPORTANT
Ifthedriveshafttubeandshaftwereseparated,ensurethattheslip
shaftyokeandsliptubeyokearealignedwhenthetubeandshaft
areassembled.Misalignmentoftheyokeswillresultinshortened
driveshaftlifeandwillcauseunnecessaryvibrationwhenthecutting
deckisoperated.
1.Ifremoved,installthePTOdriveshaft(16)intothepolyethylenetubeprotector
(20)usingtheFigure163asaguide.
2.PositionthePTOdriveshafttothemachine.
Note:Ensurethattheslipshaftyokeistowardthecuttingdeckgearboxshaft.
3.AlignthesplinesofthePTOdriveshaftendyokeontothePTOshaft.Press
thespringloadedpinandslidethePTOdriveshaftendyokeontothePTO
shaft.
4.ReleasethespringloadedpinandcheckthatthePTOdriveshaftendyokeis
lockedontothePTOshaft.
5.Securethepolyethylenetubeprotector(20)withthebracket(28),bolt(29),
washers(13)andnuts(27)tothechassis.
6.AlignthesplinesofthePTOdriveshaftendyokeontothecuttingdeck
gearboxshaft.PressthespringloadedpinandslidethePTOdriveshaftend
yokeontothecuttingdeckgearboxshaft.
7.ReleasethespringloadedpinandcheckthatthePTOdriveshaftendyokeis
lockedontothecuttingdeckgearboxshaft.
8.Closetheuniversaljointcover(item1inFigure164)andsecurewiththe
quarterturnfastener.
9.LubricatethePTOdriveshaftgreasettings;refertoOperator’sManual.
