GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
Lithium Battery Precautions
Lithium batteries are generally safe and unlikely to fail, but only if properly
maintained and are free from defects or damage. When lithium batteries fail
to operate safely or are damaged, they may present a fire and/or explosion
hazard. Damage to lithium batteries can occur immediately or over a period
of time.
To prevent Lithium Battery damage:
- Avoid physical impacts that can damage lithium batteries including
dropping, crushing, and puncturing.
- Avoid high temperatures. Temperatures above 130°F (54°C) or
external heat sources (e.g., open flames, heaters, etc.)
- Avoid frigid temperatures. Damage can occur when the batteries
themselves or the environment around the batteries are below
freezing 32°F (0°C)
- Charging a device or battery without following Volcon’s instructions.
- Charging in temperatures below freezing can lead to permanent
metallic lithium buildup (i.e. plating) on the anode, increasing the risk
for failure.
HIGH VOLTAGE Lithium battery is a high-voltage component that can
cause shock, burns, and even death.
