9. Repeat step 7 for 180° and 270° tire positions. Verify belt tension is in
target frequency range for all 4 positions. NOTE: if out of the
specified frequency range, readjust the rear wheel and repeat steps 7
& 8.
10. Remove the motorcycle from the stand and visually check the rear
sprocket and belt are aligned. If alignment is good, belt tension is
complete.
Belt Installation
The following instructions will guide you through the replacement of your
Gates® belt.
If you do not have the tools required or are unsure of your capabilities for
installation, please contact your local Volcon-authorized service center. Visit
www.volcon.com to find a dealer near you.
Steps for replacing/installing drive belt:
1. Remove both Front and Rear Guards.
2. Loosen the rear axle nut.
3. Use a 10mm box wrench to adjust the axle, loosen the belt tension.
4. Raise the rear wheel off the ground by placing a work stand or
equivalent under the EVO.
5. Remove the bottom shock bolt [Item 10, Fig 9.], set aside.
6. Remove the swingarm fasteners [Items 7 & 8, Fig 9.], set aside.
7. Slide the belt off and remove. Discard the old belt.
8. Place a new belt on the sprocket(s). Make sure the belt is seated
properly on the sprocket(s).
9. Follow steps 6, 5 and 3 in reverse order.
NOTE: TORQUE: 36-40ft-lb (49-54Nm) for shock bolt.
TORQUE: 60ft-lb (81Nm) for swingarm bolt.
TORQUE: 65ft-lb (88Nm) for rear wheel axle.
