SAFE OPERATING INSTRUCTION
This section presents some of the most important information and
recommendations to help you ride your motorcycle safely. Please take a
few moments to read these pages.
Your motorcycle can provide many years of service and pleasure if you
take responsibility for your own safety and understand the challenges you
can have while riding. There is a lot that you can do to protect yourself
when you ride. The following tips are a few that we consider very
important.
Operator Skills and Judgement
Every operator has some control over their own risk on the trails.
Operators who develop good skills will have better control of their vehicle.
Do not rely on your experiences with other recreational vehicles or any
other kind of vehicle to prepare you to operate this vehicle. Learn how
this vehicle is different and understand the unique features.
Become proficient with the controls and test operating the vehicle in safe,
controlled settings. As you gradually move on to more challenging and
advanced areas of riding, you develop your skills further. Plan ahead to
avoid situations that are too difficult for your skill level or present more
risk than you are prepared for.
Personal instruction from an experienced rider can also be valuable. If you
need assistance, ask your dealer about riding groups in your area.
Rider Condition
An operator needs to be alert, sober and physically ready to ride. Never
use this vehicle while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Operating
while intoxicated, tired or otherwise impaired increases the risk of serious
injury or death to yourself and bystanders.
