MAINTENANCE
● Belt Tension Meter: There are multiple tools available for this
measurement. We recommend the Gates® Krikut Gauge or an ABN®
belt tension gauge [model ABN-5414].
If you do not have the tools required or are unsure of your capabilities to
make adjustments, please contact your local Volcon-authorized service
center. Visit www.volcon.com to find a dealer near you.
Steps for adjusting belt tension:
1. Place the motorcycle on a stand. Lift the stand enough to allow the
rear wheel to be in unloaded suspension.
2. Make sure the rear wheel sprocket and belt are visually aligned.
3. Take initial belt tension reading. Use of a sonic tension meter or
equivalent.
4. Adjust the belt. NOTE: you may use the Gates® Carbon Drive
application or a standard belt tension meter. See Belt Tension
Adjustment section.
5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until desired nominal frequency target range is
reached.
6. Rotate the rear tire a minimum of 2 full tire rotations.
7. Re-check the belt tension. NOTE: if out of the specified frequency
range, readjust the rear wheel to set the belt tension in target range.
8. Rotate rear tire ¼ turn (90°) - check the belt tension
