UL 325 COMPLIANT SENSORS
The preferred external entrapment soluon for bi-fold gates is a photo eye (i.e., Type B1 non-contact) for
the close direcon and/or a hard-wired wraparound edge sensor (i.e., Type B2 contact) on the leading
edge of the gate, which protects for both direcons of gate travel.
The following sensors have been tested with Wallace Perimeter Security gate operators by an independent
laboratory and cered to comply with UL 325 7th Edion. Select sensors from this list for UL compliant
gate automaon soluons. Contact the sensor manufacturer for specic recommendaons for use.

The UL 325 Standard species, the operator shall monitor for the presence of every device at least
once during each open and close cycle. For details regarding the purpose and applicaon of operator
monitoring, refer to “UL 325 Monitoring Requirement for External Entrapment Protecon Devices” on
page 78.
Entrapment zones are now dened for each gate type. (Clauses 4.23, 4.24, 4.29, 4.34 of the Standard).
Installers must assess each specic site and install sensors that protect all potenal entrapment zones.
See “Figure 2. SpeedGate Common Entrapment Zones” on page 33. Refer also to diagrams in
“ENTRAPMENT AND PINCH POINTS” on page 38.
