UL 325 COMPLIANT SENSORS
The preferred external entrapment soluon for bi-fold gates is a photo eye (i.e., Type B1 – non-contact) for
the close direcon and/or a hard-wired wraparound edge sensor (i.e., Type B2 – contact) on the leading
edge of the gate, which protects for both direcons of gate travel.
The following sensors have been tested with Wallace Perimeter Security gate operators by an independent
laboratory and cered to comply with UL 325 7th Edion. Select sensors from this list for UL compliant
gate automaon soluons. Contact the sensor manufacturer for specic recommendaons for use.

The UL 325 Standard species, the operator shall monitor for the presence of every device at least
once during each open and close cycle. For details regarding the purpose and applicaon of operator
monitoring, refer to “UL 325 Monitoring Requirement for External Entrapment Protecon Devices” on
page 78.
Entrapment zones are now dened for each gate type. (Clauses 4.23, 4.24, 4.29, 4.34 of the Standard).
Installers must assess each specic site and install sensors that protect all potenal entrapment zones.
See “Figure 2. SpeedGate Common Entrapment Zones” on page 33. Refer also to diagrams in
“ENTRAPMENT AND PINCH POINTS” on page 38.
