EMC Directive
Install external EMC filters to the drive input side to comply with the EMC Directive. Drives with internal EMC
filters are not available in the Americas. Refer to Installing the External EMC Noise Filter on page 230 for the
installation of the EMC filter.
Installing the External EMC Noise Filter
Drive models 2xxxA and 4xxxA must meet conditions in this section to comply with EN 61800-3:2004+A1:2012.
Connect an EMC noise filter to the input side (primary side) that complies with European standards as specified by
Yaskawa. Refer to External EMC Noise Filter Selection on page 233 to select the correct EMC noise filter.
Use this procedure to install an EMC noise filter to make machinery and devices added to the drive comply with the
EMC Directive.
1. Install the drive and EMC noise filter on the same grounded metal plate.
2. Wire the drive and motor.
3. Ground the wire shielding on the drive side and motor side.

Figure 5.4 Wiring the Drive and Motor
Note:
Use a braided shield cable for the drive and motor wiring or put the wires through a metal conduit.
The maximum wiring length between the drive and motor is 10 m (32.8 ft). Keep the cable between the drive and motor as short
as possible.
Keep the grounding wire as short as possible.
4. Use a cable clamp to ground the motor cable to the metal plate.
Note:
