2.5. Hazards during transport, installation, and commissioning
Only electronic and mechanical skilled personnel are permitted to electrically and
mechanically install and commission DLT-V83 industrial PCs.
Moreover, specialized knowledge about lithium-ion batteries and the applicable safety
regulations is also required for DLT-V83 industrial PCs with integrated UPS (optional).
Risk of injury and physical damage caused by the device falling down
The device may fall down during transportation or installation and cause injury.
 Always hold the device by the housing with both hands.
 Never use the antenna cap as a handle. It can break due to the weight load.
 Ask for help from another person when installing or removing the device.
Danger if mounting bracket breaks
 When installing the DLT-V83, make sure that if the bracket breaks (e.g.
because of a stress fracture) no-one will be injured.
 Alternatively please put appropriate safety measures in place (e.g. install a
security cable in addition to the mounting bracket).
Deployment location: Note IP protection class and permissible ambient
conditions
Observe the IP protection class/category and permitted environmental conditions
of the DLT-V83.
Before use: Install cable cover
To ensure the IP protection of the DLT-V83:
 Before commissioning, install the supplied cable cover for the external
connections, see 7.8 Attaching the cable cover.
Ensure fresh air supply/prevent overheating
Observe the mounting environment. The DLT-V83 uses a passive cooling design
that requires a flow of fresh air. The mounting environment must not result in a
closed system. Without fresh cooling air the DLT-V83 may overheat and may be
damaged beyond repair.
