7.8.3. Attaching cable grommets and fixing strain relief in place
Important preparatory work
1. Checking the cable diameters and elasticity
Check the cable diameters and elasticity of all the cables to be connected.
A cable grommet suitable for the diameter and elasticity of the cable must be used.
Bear the following points in mind when selecting a cable grommet: The grommet
must completely surround the cable. The opening of the grommet must be slightly
smaller than the cable diameter.
NOTICE: If a grommet is used that is too large or too small, the device will not be
properly sealed.
2. Preparing the required cable grommets and dummy grommets
Remove the required cable grommets and dummy grommets from the cable sealing
set (using scissors, for example).
Cut the grommets off as cleanly as possible at the separation point so that they fit
into the cable openings and seal them tightly.
Cable grommets and dummy grommets should be cut off as cleanly as possible. This is
important in order to seal the industrial PC well.
