Supported Combinations of the Alcatel-Lucent OAW-40xx Series Switches
A small OAW-40xx Series switches deployment with switch redundancy can be configured as a single
master/single local, master/master-backup/multiple local switches for very small AP clusters/deployments (256
APs and under). If the APs managed by a OAW-40xx Series master switch exceeds 256 APs, a OAW-4x50 Series
switch must be used. In no instance can a OAW-40xx Series switch act as a master for any OAW-4x50 Series
switch, regardless of total AP count.
Supported Configurations
n OAW-4005— master/local only up to 16 APs maximum within the master cluster.
n OAW-4005— master+master-backup and up to 8 local switches (OAW-4005and OAW-4010 switches only)
up to 64 APs maximum within the master cluster.
n OAW-4024— master+master-backup and up to 8 local switches (OAW-4005, OAW-4010, and OAW-4024
switches) up to 64 APs maximum within the master cluster.
n OAW-4030— master+master-backup and up to 32 local switches (any OAW-40xx Series switch) up to 256
APs maximum within the master cluster.
Using the LCD Screen
Some switches are equipped with an LCD panel that displays a variety of information about the switch’s status
and provides a menu that allows for basic operations such as initial setup and reboot. The LCD panel displays
two lines of text with a maximum of 16 characters on each line. When using the LCD panel, the active line is
indicated by an arrow next to the first letter.
The LCD panel is operated using the two navigation buttons to the left of the screen.
n Menu: Allows you to navigate through the menus of the LCD panel.
n Enter: Confirms and executes the action currently displayed on the LCD panel.
The LCD has four modes:
n Boot: Displays the boot up status.
n LED Mode: Displays the mode that the STATUS LED is in.
n Status: Displays the status of different components of the switch, including Power Supplies and AOS-W
version.
n Maintenance: Allows you to execute some basic operations of the switch such as uploading an image or
rebooting the system.
