______________________________________________________________________
2-13
2.4 CABLE CONNECTIONS
After you have familiarized yourself with the safety information in the introductory section
of this manual and have prepared a suitable environment, follow these steps to prepare
the A-2000 system for operation.
1. Connect the DSC to the monitor
Holding the connector with the flat side up, plug the DSC cable into the DSC
port on the front of the monitor.
Once connected, the DSC need not be disconnected again. However, if you
wish to disconnect the DSC cable from the monitor, carefully pull on the blue
rubber overlay. DO NOT pull on the gray cable.
2. Connect the PIC to the DSC
Attach the Patient Interface Cable to the "DSC pigtail" extending from the DSC
unit.
Note:
Before connecting, carefully line up the markings on the connectors for
proper pin alignment. To disconnect the PIC, grasp the connector housing
and pull firmly. DO NOT pull apart by the cable wire.
2.5 START PROCEDURE
To start the instrument:
1. Attach one end of the power cord to the rear panel of the monitor.
2. Plug the other end of the power cord into a properly grounded hospital-grade AC
power outlet.
3. Press side panel POWER button. The internal back-up battery charges only
when the monitor is powered on and plugged into the AC outlet.
Powering on the monitor will initiate a self test procedure to be certain that the
equipment and connections are operating properly. If there is a problem, the system will
halt and an error message will appear. Error messages are explained in the
Troubleshooting section of this manual.
To shut the system down, simply press the POWER button.
2.6 MENU SETTINGS
Before using the A-2000 for the first time, you may need to select the proper language
and set the current date and time. Other setting options are discussed in detail in
Section 3.
To move from one selection to another, use the up [] and down [] arrows to
highlight the option you desire. Then follow the instructions below:
