SECTION 5 FEATURES AND CAPABILITIES

5.2.14 BIS Trend Smoothing
The A-2000 offers two choices of smoothing rates over which the BIS value is averaged:
• 15 seconds (Provides increased responsiveness to state changes, such as induction
or awakening). This is the default setting except when a BIS Extend Sensor is
attached or the system is set to ICU mode.
• 30 seconds (Provides a smoother trend with decreased variability and sensitivity to
artifact). This is the default setting when a BIS Extend Sensor is attached or the
system is set to ICU mode.
5.2.15 Event Printing
When EVENT is selected from the Setup Menu, EEG and processed data from the
previous ten minutes of the case are saved in memory. When a printer is available, you
may print portions of this data by selecting “Print Event” from the Advanced Setup Menu.
If the case containing the marked event is still in memory, the printout includes:
• All available trend data for the case
• Up to 30 seconds of EEG data recorded prior to marking the event
• A-2000 setup and configuration information.
If the case is no longer in memory, the printout includes:
• Up to 10 minutes of trend data collected prior to marking the event
• Up to 30 seconds of EEG data
• A-2000 setup and configuration information.
Note that only one event is saved in memory. Pressing the Event marker a second time
overwrites the previous record.
5.2.16 Languages
The A-2000 is designed to display multiple languages, including English, German,
Dutch, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Italian and Swedish. When the language has been
changed in the Language Selection Menu, all screens display in the selected language.
5.2.17 Time/Date and Clear Data Memory
The current time and date can be set in the Advanced Setup Menu. When the time/date
is changed to an earlier time, the system prompts the user to clear the data memory to
avoid duplicate time entries.
5.2.18 Sensor Data Display (BIS XP Platform only)
When the Sensor Data Display is selected from the Diagnostic Menu, the following
sensor data are displayed: lot code, serial number, sensor type, expiration date,
whether the sensor was used for more than 5 minutes or not, and the number of times
the same sensor was connected. The date and time of each connection is also
displayed.
5.2.19 ICU Mode / Extend Mode
When the ICU Mode is turned on in the System Configuration Menu, the BIS smoothing
rate is set to 30 seconds, Alarm Suspend is set to ON (so that alarms will only be
silenced for 2 minutes), and the BIS Log interval is set to 60 minutes. When a BIS
Extend Sensor is attached, the system automatically switches to these same settings.
