7.5 Entering the mixing hopper
In order to service the cutting blades of the mixing auger, etc., you must enter the mixing hopper.
Risks of personal injury from crushing, shearing, cutting, amputation, entrapment,
winding up, entanglement, catching and impact may arise if raised, unsecured parts
of the machine lower or are lowered inadvertently, e.g. an open dosing gate, or if the
machine is inadvertently started or the dosing auger is inadvertently actuated.
Secure the raised parts of the machine against inadvertent lowering before working in
the vicinity of raised parts. Verify that the block ball valve is closed.
Secure the machine against inadvertent start-up before climbing into the dispenser
container (secure the main switch with a padlock).
Risks of personal injury from the machine toppling over can arise when entering the
mixing hopper over the upper edge of the mixing hopper!
As a fundamental rule, only enter the mixing hopper via a discharge opening.
Risks of personal injury from slipping, tripping, or falling while moving within the
mixing hopper can arise due to insufficiently secure footing!
Put on suitable personal protective equipment before entering the mixing hopper.
Always ensure secure footing. Bear in mind that the standing surfaces on the mixing
auger are inclined.
Cover the sharp-edged cutting blades before you move around inside the mixing
hopper.
Remove all feed remains and moisture before you move around inside the mixing
hopper.
