Appendix A: Hydrouoric acid (HF) Applications
WARNING
Use only CEM specied consumables and accessories.
Caps are designed for only one use. DO NOT use these vessels and/or caps more than one
time.
8. Place the vessel containing the TFM line and sample into the rack.
9. Repeat procedure above to prepare additional vessels.
Load and perform a Method - HF Applications
The LED’s at the bottom of the BLADE will change color during each step of the digestion: idle = blue, loading/
unloading = purple, ramp/hold = white, cooling= teal, error = orange.
1. Place the rack containing the vessel(s) into the fume cabinet. Note the orientation of the rack in fume cabinet
and ensure that it is seated all the way down.
2. From the Home screen, press the Run icon.
3. Load the method as outlined below. There are multiple ways to add a method to the queue. Once a method
is added, the cell positions will turn green. For digestions using hydrouoric acid (HF), ensure that the vessel
contains a TFM Liner and “QVL” is selected for the vessel type.

• From the methods list, hold and drag the method to the appropriate position.
• Highlight a method and press the desired rack positions.
• To add the same method to the entire rack, highlight the method and press the “+” icon at the top of the
rack.
• Scroll to the second tab of the run screen to view a list of all positions. Select the position and desired
method.
4. To remove a method, follow one of the procedures as outlined below.
• Select the rack position.
• To delete all methods in the rack, select the Delete icon at the bottom of the rack.
5. Press the play icon in the top right corner of the screen. All vessels must be added to the racks and the sam-
ple queue before Play is pressed in the next step.
6. Press the Play icon to begin the rst digestion.
• Once play is pressed, the fume cabinet door cannot be opened and methods cannot be added or deleted
from the queue.
• Pause can be pressed to pause the queue after the current run is complete. Once the current run is
completed and the vessel has been returned to the rack, the fume cabinet door can be opened.
• Stop aborts the current run. Remaining vessels in the queue will not be run until the Play icon is selected.
7. Once the vessel has been loaded, press the Floating Camera icon and verify that the sample is stirring.
8. Once the digestion is complete, the cooling fan will turn on and stirring will continue. Once the cooling tem-
perature or max cooling time is met the vessel will be returned to the rack and the next sample in the queue
will be loaded. The fume cabinet door remains locked until the instrument is idle.
