Appendix A: Hydrouoric acid (HF) Applications
Parts Required:
• Replacement plenum
• Boric Acid
• Secondary containment bin
1. Ensure instrument is off and mains power disconnected.
2. Place an HF compatible secondary containment bin in the nearest available vent hood.
3. Place HF compatible container beneath the trap located at the back of th instrument.
4. Carefully remove trap cover by slowly twisting counter-clockwise until the cap is completely removed. Any liquid
present in the trap will drop into the beaker. Leave the beaker in position during the remainder of the cleaning
procedure. DO NOT install the trap cover until instructed to do so.
5. Place the trap cover into the containment bin placed inside the fume hood.
6. Open the instrument door located on the front of the instrument.
7. Remove the racks.
8. Remove the plenum cover by lifting straight up. Place the plenum cover into the containment bin.
9. Remove the landing by lifting straight up. Place the landing into the containment bin.
