Changing the Boot.ini file for serial
integrations
If you are using a serial integration to connect the Unity or
ActiveFax server and the phone system, do the following proce-
dure to ensure that Windows NT does not mistake the serial con-
nection for a serial mouse.
To change the Boot.ini file for serial integrations
a Make a backup copy of the Boot.ini file.
b Remove the hidden, system, and read-only attributes from
the Boot.ini file.
c Using a text editor (for example, Notepad), open the Boot.ini
file.
d Type
/NoSerialMice at the end of each entry in the
[operating systems] section of Boot.ini, for example:
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Server Version 4.00"
/NoSerialMice
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows NT Server Version 4.00 [VGA mode]"
/basevideo /sos /NoSerialMice
e Save Boot.ini, and close the text editor.
f Restore the hidden, system, and read-only attributes to the
Boot.ini file.
g Shut down and restart Windows NT.
