Parking
When parking your vehicle, all legal require-
ments should be observed.
1. Press the brake pedal and keep it pressed.
2. Connect the electronic parking brake
›››page198. The drive system is switched
o. The indicator lamp next to the gear
selector lights up red.
3. On slopes, turn the steering wheel so that
if the parked vehicle were to start moving, it
would steer toward the kerb.
4. Remove your foot from the brake pedal.

Exit the vehicle ››› . Watch out for other
road users!

Take all vehicle keys with you and lock it.
To avoid damage or hazardous situations, al-
ways park the vehicle on a suitable parking sur-
face ››› .
Rear seat warning
The function depends on the vehicle's equip-
ment.
When the ignition is switched
o, a text mes-
sage in the infotainment system reminds you
not to leave any passengers in the rear seats
››› .
If a rear door was used before the trip, a text
message is also displayed on the instrument
cluster and an audible warning may sound. This
warning can be activated/deactivated in the
infotainment system menu Settings > Screen
settings > Rear seat warning.
WARNING
If the vehicle is parked incorrectly, it could
roll away, even on gentle slopes. This can
cause accidents and serious injuries.
When parking, always carry out the opera-
tions in the stipulated order.
Before leaving the vehicle, make sure that
the electronic parking brake is applied and
that the control lamp next to the gear se-
lector is red on the instrument cluster.
WARNING
If children, people who may need assistance
or animals are left unattended in the vehicle,
accidents and serious injuries can occur.

ramps, driving over kerbs or xed markings,
and on descents.
