Section 3 - Conguration
The router has the ability to lter packets based on specic characteristics of Ethernet frames. Filters are used to specify interfaces and broad
guidelines, while rules allow very ne, protocol-specic control over packets. Generic Rules look for a particular pattern within any Ethernet frame.
These features are intended for advanced users and network professionals only, and can safely be ignored by most users.

Enable/Disable Packet Filter
Packet Filter: Check this box to enable the packet lter.
Click Apply to save your settings.
Filters
Index: Indicates the index of the lter.
Name: Indicates the user assigned name of the lter.
Interface: Indicates the WAN interface to which the lter applies.
Type: Indicates whether the lter applies to inbound or outbound
packets.
Default
Action:
Indicates the default action - permitting packets or droping
them.
Action: Click the pencil (
) icon to edit the lter, click the trash can icon (
) to delete the lter.
Click Add to add a new lter, described in Packet Filter -- Filters on page <?>.
