config arpentry
Purpose
Used to configure a static entry in the ARP table.
Syntax config arpentry <ipaddr> <macaddr>
Description
This command is used to configure a static entry in the ARP Table. The user may specify the
IP address and the corresponding MAC address of an entry in the Switch’s ARP table.
Parameters
<ipaddr> − The IP address of the end node or station.
<macaddr> − The MAC address corresponding to the IP address.
Restrictions
Only Administrator and Operator and Power-User-level users can issue this command.
Example Usage:
To configure a static ARP entry for the IP address 10.48.74.12 and MAC address 00:50:BA:00:07:36:
DES-3528:admin# config arpentry 10.48.74.12 00-50-BA-00-07-36
Command: config arpentry 10.48.74.12 00-50-BA-00-07-36
Success.
delete arpentry
Purpose
Used to delete a static entry into the ARP table.
Syntax delete arpentry [<ipaddr> | all]
Description This command is used to delete a static ARP entry, made using the create arpentry
command above, by specifying either the IP address of the entry or all. Specifying all clears
the Switch’s ARP table.
Parameters
<ipaddr> − The IP address of the end node or station.
all − Deletes all ARP entries.
Restrictions
Only Administrator and Operator and Power-User-level users can issue this command.
Example Usage:
To delete an entry of IP address 10.48.74.121 from the ARP table:
DES-3528:admin# delete arpentry 10.48.74.121
Command: delete arpentry 10.48.74.121
Success.
config arp_aging time
Purpose
Used to configure the age-out timer for ARP table entries on the Switch.
Syntax config arp_aging time <value 0-65535>
Description
This command sets the maximum amount of time, in minutes that an ARP entry can remain
in the Switch’s ARP table, without being accessed, before it is dropped from the table.
Parameters time <value 0-65535> - The ARP age-out time, in minutes. The value may be set in the
range of 0 to 65535 minutes with a default setting of 20 minutes.
