Static MAC-Based VLAN Commands
The Static MAC-Based VLAN commands in the Command Line Interface (CLI) are listed (along with the appropriate
parameters) in the following table.
Command Parameters
create mac_based_vlan mac_address <macaddr> [vlan <vlan_name 32> | vlanid <vlanid 1-4094>]
delete mac_based_vlan {mac_address <macaddr> [vlan <vlan_name 32> | vlanid <vlanid 1-
4094>]}
show mac_based_vlan {mac_address <macaddr> | [vlan <vlan_name 32> | vlanid <vlanid 1-
4094>]}
Each command is listed, in detail, in the following sections.
create mac_based_vlan
Purpose
Used to create a static MAC-based VLAN entry.
Syntax create mac_based_vlan mac_address <macaddr> [vlan <vlan_name 32> | vlanid
<vlanid 1-4094>]
Description
This command only needs to be supported by the model which supports MAC-based VLAN.
The user can use this command to create a static MAC-based VLAN entry.
When a MAC-based VLAN entry is created for a user, the traffic from this user will be able to
be serviced under the specified VLAN regardless of the authentiucation function operated on
this port.
There is a global limitation of the maximum entries up to 1024 for the static MAC-based
entry.
Parameters
mac_address − The MAC address.
vlan − The VLAN to be associated with the MAC address.
vlanid - Specifies the VLAN by VLAN ID.
Restrictions
Only Administrator and Operator and Power-User-level users can issue this command.
Example usage
To create a MAC-based VLAN entry:
DES-3528:admin# create mac_based_vlan mac_address 00-00-00-00-00-01 vlan default
Command: create mac_based_vlan mac_address 00-00-00-00-00-01 vlan default
Success.

delete mac_based_vlan
Purpose
Used to delete the static MAC-based VLAN entry.
Syntax delete mac_based_vlan {mac_address <macaddr> [vlan <vlan_name 32> | vlanid
<vlanid 1-4094>]}
Description
This command is used to delete a database entry. If the MAC address and VLAN is not
specified, all static entries will be removed.
Parameters
mac_address − The MAC address.
vlan − The VLAN to be associated with the MAC address.
vlanid - Specifies the VLAN by VLAN ID.
Restrictions
Only Administrator and Operator and Power-User-level users can issue this command.

To delete a static MAC-based VLAN entry:
