Assigning Inserts
To assign an Insert:
1 Press the Insert switch in the track’s channel
strip. The Insert positions for the track are
shown in the LCD displays.
2 Press the Assign switch in the Assign section of
the Channel Bar.
3 Unassigned Insert positions show the top level
menus for assigning inserts.
• On Pro Tools HD: TDM, RTAS, MMTDM
(multi-mono TDM), MMRTAS (multi-
mono RTAS), HW Ins, No Insert
• On Pro Tools LE: Plug-In, MM Plug (multi-
mono plug-in) or Insert
4 Navigate the plug-ins menu by doing the fol-
lowing:
• Turn the encoder (or in Flip mode, move
the fader) to scroll through menu items.
• To go down a menu level, press the encoder
switch that corresponds to “select.”
• To go up a level, press the encoder switch
that corresponds to “back.”
If plug-ins are arranged by category or manufac-
turer, these appear in subsequent levels. The fi-
nal level shows plug-in names.
5 Do one of the following:
• To confirm each assignment separately,
press the flashing encoder switch on each
channel.
• To confirm all assignments at once, press
the flashing Assign switch in the Assign
section of the Channel Bar.
• To cancel any unconfirmed assignments
and leave Assign mode, press the flashing
Escape/Cancel switch.
To remove an insert:
While in Insert Select view, hold Default and
press the encoder switch under the Insert.
Making Single Assignments
Instead of putting C|24 in Assign mode, you can
make single assignments from normal mode.
To assign single Inputs or Outputs:
1 Press the Input switch or Output switch in the
Assign section of the Channel Bar.
2 Press and hold the encoder switch on the track
where you want to make the assignment. The
Assign switch flashes.
3 Turn the encoder to make the assignment.
4 Press the flashing encoder switch to confirm
the assignment.
To assign single Inserts or Sends:
1 Press the Insert or Send switch in the track’s
channel strip. The Insert or Send positions are
shown in the LCD displays.
2 Do one of the following:
• For an Insert or Send position with no as-
signment, press the encoder switch that
corresponds to “assign,”
– or –
• For an Insert or Send position with a cur-
rent assignment, press and hold the en-
coder switch that corresponds to “more.”
3 Turn the encoder and press the “select” and
“back” switches to make the assignment.
4 Press the flashing encoder switch to confirm
the assignment.
If making an assignment in Send Console
mode, make sure the Send Pre/Post and
Send/Mute switches are not active.
