Other limits
The controller may have other limits in effect (e.g. controller temperature limit or high voltage limit). The module which
is limiting the most, will apply the limit. The DrvTqLim and BrkTqLim will then show the limit of the corresponding
module.
Example
Controller temperature limit 50 %
Low voltage cut back limit
1)
70 %
High voltage cut back limit
1)
30 %
Applicable drive limit 50 % ‘CT’
Applicable brake limit 30 % ‘HV’
1)
Of course, both a high voltage and a low voltage cut back should not occur simultaneously, but is done here to
illustrate the applicable limits.
A note on drive and brake
A traction controller is able to drive and brake a motor. Driving can be demanded by the user, for example, forward drive
or reverse drive. Braking can also be demanded by the user, for example, neutral brake and foot brake. However, when
the user changes the direction from, say forward to reverse, the vehicle must first come to a stop before the actual
direction can be changed. The controller will then use ‘direction braking’.
But there is more. When the controller is using speed control, or is in a speed limit, the user is thinking he is driving the
motor, but it is possible that the controller is braking the motor in order to control the speed. This is also a form of braking
and here the high voltage cut back applies as well.
M7-21 Absolute maximum motor speed “AbsMaxSp”
For safety reason a motor overspeed fault detection is active in software (both traction and pump). If speed is greater
than 7.21 Absolute maximum motor speed AbsMaxSp” a failure occurs (F30, see section 12.1 Error Codes). For a proper
tuning this parameter has to be set to 30% above the maximum speed set in the adjustment menu.
M7-22 Torque Threshold for Stall Protection “TrqTHLim”
M7-23 Stall protection Time “StallTim”
A motor stall protection is available to prevent to keep motor at full current and no speed for long time.
If the motor is stuck at zero speed with a toque greater than M7-22 Torque Threshold for Stall Protection “TrqTHLim””
and for a time longer than M7-23 Stall protection Time StallTim”” the controller stops pulsing and a motor stall condition
is detected.
Setting to 100% the M7-22 Torque Threshold for Stall Protection “TrqTHLim”” the function is disabled. As default stall
protection is disabled.
M7-24 n/a
M7-25 n/a
These two settings are not active in PMS software
